In the 1840s, Antoine-Joseph "Adolphe" Sax invented a new wind instrument, dubbing it the "saxophone" in his name. Of all his inventions, the saxophone was his greatest fame. His business was succeeded by his son, Adolphe Edouard Sax Jr.
In 1928, Henri Selmer acquired the name and factory of Adolphe Sax. Using the same parts from the original factory, Eduardo continued to work With Henri Selmer after the acquisition, continuing to work on Adolphe Sax saxophones.
This rare Adolphe Sax alto saxophone, No. 420, was manufactured in 1932 and is one of 1300 saxophones that were made from 1929-1936 without any Selmer markings during the handover period to Henri Selmer. The instrument is in excellent condition for its age.
The instrument comes with an SML mouthpiece and Berg Larsen ligature, and the original case.
